MATT

An incredible story of a young wrestler apart of the number #1 high school in the country, Oak Park and River Forest. Pressed at high standards and expectations, Matt discovers the meaning of self-actualization by overcoming some of the toughest mental disorders wrestlers face while cutting weight. Through passion, mental discipline and supported love, Matt rediscovers his passion for wrestling while going through the toughest time of his life. In today's society, athletes are perceived as divine and superior figures. They are made out to be untouchable. This case expresses how athletes are held up to such standards that it consumes their well-being. Even at the most prestigious high school wrestling program, athletes are empowered by the social standards. Appealing to cases like Matt, can expose these stereotype society presses upon young athletes.
